MCU/MHC Mineral Insulated Heating Cables – Tmax 250 °C / 90 °C
The MCU range of mineral insulated (MI) copper-sheathed heating cables has been developed to meet the specific requirement for a cable with high thermal capacity and electrical resistance values suitable for long circuit lengths.
To achieve this, a copper sheath is combined with heating conductors, allowing an operating temperature of 250 °C with resistance values ranging from 1.7 Ω/km to 2,000 Ω/km per conductor.
An outer HDPE sheath must be used when the cable is installed in specific situations such as corrosion protection, burial, or snow-melting applications. Copper heating cables with HDPE sheath (MHC) have an operating temperature of 90 °C.
MI cables offer excellent mechanical strength and are corrosion resistant.
MCU/MHC mineral insulated heating cables are ATEX, IEC, IECEx, and CE approved, ensuring safe use in both non-hazardous and explosive atmospheres in accordance with international standards.

With their ability to maintain temperatures up to 250 °C and support long circuit lengths (up to 5–6 km), MCU/MHC mineral insulated heating cables are ideal for freeze protection of exposed pipelines, such as steam manifolds, as well as for process temperature maintenance of transported fluids.
Application example: In industrial sectors where pipelines must be maintained at high temperatures (e.g. steam networks, manifolds, exposed pipelines), it is crucial to use a cable resistant to extreme conditions.
Problem example: Many heating cables deteriorate quickly in very high temperature environments or under mechanical and chemical stress. Long circuits require conductors with suitable resistance values to cover large distances without excessive power loss.
The MCU/MHC mineral insulated heating cable is designed for the most demanding environments.
-MCU, with a copper sheath, withstands up to 250 °C.
-MHC, with an HDPE sheath, is suitable for buried or corrosive applications (max. 90 °C).
-Circuit lengths up to 5–6 km are possible, with high reliability and long service life.
Ideal for temperature maintenance or freeze protection of pipelines and high-temperature processes.
